Cold December Day

So I have decided to sit down for a few minutes, forgetting that the house isn't as clean as it should be and that I really could use yet another nap, and just blog a little bit. We had a good day at Bible Study today and thought I would share. Adam got his first go at being on stage and performing, and his big sis got another time to shine! Mom, got her first taste of having two kids on either side of each other on stage, by myself with a video camera and a regular camera. Needless to say you are completely nauseous when you watch the video and I got two blurry still pics. Lovely!! Adam was so sweet and sat there picking at his shirt and looking around and clapping from time to time (of course he goes around the house singing the songs word for word all of the time) Adeline sang all of the words perfectly with a few smiles here and there! So proud :)





We are studying Genesis this year and it is really good. This was our last lesson of this first half and we finished with God asking Abraham to sacrifice his only son, Isaac. It really is that much more special of a story when you know all of the background and have followed Abraham through his journey of faith. The lecturer today did an amazing job of putting some words to this particular test. She made the statement that we can't compare ourselves to Abraham or Isaac and say how we would have reacted. She said that this test was tailor-made for Abraham. He had to go through his whole life with other tests and many failures to bring him to the place to walk through this very difficult task the Lord asked of him. I feel like the Lord left out so much in this story. You know the details. I mean did Sarah know where they were going? Did Abraham explain to Isaac what was going on those long three days they waited? Were there tears on top of tears? The bottom line is that Abraham obeyed. Isaac submitted. God was there the whole time. He asks us to make daily sacrifices that don't seem right. They don't seem to line up with His promises. But they do. We just can't see the full picture. No matter where we are today, it has been tailor-made for us. To teach us. To reveal to us his ultimate faithfulness and glory. In the unbelievably sad moments. In the unbelievable joyous moments. In the everyday moments. He is there. He is revealing to us the story of Christmas everyday. The best part is that it isn't a fable. It is truth and in this tailor-made season He is here! Our savior lives!!
